Michael O’Connor, PE, ME, SE, EE, CFEI, PI is a Technical Expert Witness and has over 37 years of continuous experience in the fields of mechanical, structural, civil, and electrical engineering. He holds California licenses in all four engineering fields and holds the NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator designation. He is court qualified as an engineering expert in all of these specialties.
Mr. O’Connor earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of California, Berkeley, California in 1978 where he graduated with highest honors. Similarly, he got the Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and graduated with highest honors in 1984 from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico. He went on to do Master of Science in Electrical Power Engineering from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1987.
Mr. O’Connor investigates a wide range of losses including product failures, fires, structural failures, construction defects, and personal injury. He works directly with large loss insurance adjusters, major utility suppliers, product manufacturers, and attorneys. He is the engineer of record for all design projects generated by the company he works for (they purchased his engineering company.)
Currently, Mr. O’Connor is the Principal Engineer and owner of a forensic engineering and general engineering consulting firm offering professional engineering services in the fields of civil, structural, electrical and mechanical engineering as well as fire origin and cause analysis, failure analysis, slip and fall studies and accident reconstruction.
