Currently, Dr. Tawansy is the Director of the Pediatric Posterior Segment Fellowship Training Program at Children’s Retina Institute of California; Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University; Director of the Pediatric Retina and ROP Screening Program at Huntington Memorial Hospital, Director of Ophthalmology Service at Kern Medical Center, and the Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology Program at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.

Dr. Tawansy has won numerous awards throughout his career like: Resident of the Year – Henry Ford Hospital in 1996-1997; Barsky Award for Resident Research in Ophthalmology in 1997; Faculty Clinical Teacher of the Year – Vanderbilt Ophthalmology in 1998-1999; Faculty Surgical Instructor of the Year – Vanderbilt Ophthalmology in 2001-2002; and Honor Award – American Society of Retinal Specialists in 2004.
