Captain Poster was on the Board of Directors of the California Boating Safety Officers Association for 4 years and served as their President, Vice President, and Southern California Regional Director. He has taught Boating Safety Enforcement for the State of California and Peace Officers Standards (POST). He is US Coast Guard Auxiliary Operations Qualified and has been with them for more than 30 years.

Captain Poster investigated many accidents as a Lake Patrol Officer and Lake Operations Supervisor at Big Bear Lake. He was responsible for all the lake operations including enforcing boating laws, conducting accident & incident investigations, review & revision of local boating laws & department manuals, etc. He is a member of the International Association of Marine Investigators.
