Aviation Expert. AVI-1854 has over 38 years of experience in aviation, including thirteen years as a U.S. Navy pilot. He is qualified in transport-category aircraft, and has supervised operational aviation units in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In the U.S. Navy, he had wartime experience in aircraft carrier operations, commanded a remote island-based unit, and gained extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, aircrew training and scheduling, and operations management. AVI-1854 was an airline executive in the maintenance and operations divisions of the original National Airlines (in Miami in the 1970s) and Pan American World Airways (in New York). He is one of the founders of America West Airlines and was its first senior vice president of operations.
