AVI-1840 has over 15,000 hours in civil, military, and commercial aviation in worldwide operations since 1966, including over 5,000 hours as pilot-in-command at speeds ranging from 60k to Mach 2. His commercial flight experience includes piloting in worldwide operations on B-727, DC-8, DC-10, B-747, and MD-11 since 1971. He has experience with conventional as well as modern glass cockpits, including Litton, Delco Navigation Systems and with the Honeywell Flight Management system (FMS) and EFIS. He is also the author of a concise training manual for the MD-11, which is widely used by pilots. He was a USAF squadron safety officer responsible for recommending, drafting, and implementing procedures designed to increase the safety of flight.
